Visarpa (Blood toxification)

 
According to ayurveda, Visarpa is the diasease which is originated from suppression of urge for vomiting which involves vitiation of doshas, will move un-directionally get affects the skin causes leads to the disease Visarpa.
Types: #
Is of 7 types includes vataja,pittaja,kaphaja,karshamaka( tridoshaja),agneya (vata-pitta), grandhi visarpa(kapha-vata), khardmaka(pitta-kapha)
Based on asrayas it is of 3 types-
  • antarasraya
  • bahirasraya
  • ubhayasraya
Samprathi #
(Pathogensis):
Rakta (blood), lasika (lymph), charma (skin), mamsa (muscle) get vitiated by tridoshas & mala of saptadathu get deposited in skin results in appearance of rashes all over the body.
Nidana #
(causative factors):
Visarpa is caused due to over intake of salty, sour & spicy food, over fermented foods, putrified alcohol or foods &drinks, lond preserved foods & drinks, excess exposure to sun or dry heat, excess intake of pungent foods are some of the reasons.
Roopa #
(symptoms):
Symptoms includes discoloration (bluish-reddish-paleness) of particular parts associated with pricking or burning or numb pain with eruption of bodily hair follicles with appearance of rash in particular or irregular pattern over skin, with severe headache, itching, excessive sweat, sleeplessness, discoloration of feces, eyes are common symptoms.
Agni visarpa: #
burning sense all over the body with discoloration of particular sites with sense of hot flushes, with high fever. Appears anywhere all over the body.
Khardama visarpa: #
depletion of body, numbness, loss of appetite, stabbing pain in body, appears with particular pattern only at one site.
Grandhi visarpa: #
row like appearance of boils with severe pain, round in shape reddish in colour for appearance.
Complications: #
Visarpa associated with jwara (fever), atisara (diarrohea), kasa (cough), hikka (hiccoughs), appearance of different colors, depletion of body, loss of consciousness are fatal symptoms.
Line of treatment: #
  • Based on dosha involved, as it is originated from accumulation of aama in the body treatment follows Langhana-pachana-sodhana-samana.
  • Chikista with drugs in both external & internal administration.
  • External application of paste of drugs or ointments plays a key role in pacifying the disease.
  • Rakta mokshana is one of the salya chikista, is applied in this roga as it directly clears the accumulated blood.
Patya-apatya #
(diet chart):
Patient with this type of skin problems must strictly avoid hot, spicy, pungent, sour foods. Strictly avoid alcohol, habit of taking preserved foods for long time. Must strictly avoid use of peanuts, garlic. Regular passing of stools to be checked carefully. Must avoid fermented or preserved use of buttermilk.
Medicines: #
Suggested medicine includes
kaishore guggulu,
arogyavardhini vati,
avipattikara churnam,
triphala churnam,
pancha tikta guggulu gritam,
kumaryasava,
chandanasava,
kamadugdharasa, chandanadi vati, chandanadi tailam, jatyadi gritam ,seetambu paneeyam,dadimadi gritam,laghumalini vasantam, gulkhand,are some of the medicines.

Modern view: #
Blood detoxification is the condition seen in most of all inflammatory conditions, sepsis condition. It can be identified with test ABG, in which PO2 & PCO2 levels are estimated. Line of management includes symptomatic treatment with exposure of hidden cause of inflammation or sepsis.
